Miss USA Rima Fakih

Rima Fakih (b. October 2, 1986) is the current Miss USA. A Lebanese American, she won the Miss Michigan USA pageant on September 19, 2009, and the Miss USA pageant on May 16, 2010. She is the first Miss Michigan to win the Miss USA title since Kenya Moore in 1993. She is also the second Miss USA of Lebanese-American descent after Julie Hayek in 1983 who was also a Lebanese-American. Fakih currently resides in Dearborn, Michigan. She is the thought to be the first muslim to be crowned Miss USA.

Rima Fakih was crowned Miss USA 2010 last night as Donald Trump proudly looked on. (He owns the pageant, after all.)

Rima Fakih is Miss Michigan of 2009. She was "born in Lebanon and raised in New York City and Dearborn, Michigan in both the Muslim and Christian faiths," according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal, which quoted pageant officials. Rima Fakih is a graduate of the University of Michigan (Dearborn campus) and says she'd like to go to law school once her reign is done.

Detroit's Arab-American community is delighted by the win, according to the Detroit News. Rima Fakih is not the very first Arab-American to be Miss USA; that honor apparently goes to Miss USA 1983, Julie Hayek, whose father was Lebanese.

Rima Fakih wore this bikini and high heels for the bathing suit competition. The Miss USA pageant has bathing suit and evening gown competitions, but eschews the traditional Miss America-type talent competition.

There’s a new Miss USA this morning – and she’s like no other before her. Rima Fakih came into the pageant as Miss Michigan, and left as the first Arab-American Miss USA.

The 24-year-old Rima Fakih, a Lebanese immigrant, said she could tell by the way Donald Trump was looking at her that she was the Miss USA 2010 winner.

“That’s the same look that he gives them when he says, ‘You’re hired,’”

Born into a powerful Shiite family in a southern Lebanon village, Rima Fakih came to the United States with her family as a baby and was raised in New York. After attending Catholic school, Rima moved to Michigan in 2003.

Of her win, Rima’s sister Rana Faqih says:

“We’re very proud as Lebanese Americans and as Lebanese that Rima reached this point despite all the pressures and stereotyping about Arabs and Lebanese. She made it. She fought and reached her goal.”

I wonder how Rima Fakih’s family feels about her 2007 win of ‘Stripper 101,’ a pole dancing contest put on by Detroit radio morning show “Mojo in the Morning.”

The website for the Detroit radio station said:

“Congratulations to Miss Michigan, Rima Fakih who was crowned Miss USA on Sunday night! Rima is a Dearborn resident and the first Arab American to wear the crown,” the site states. “Rima is a Mojo In The Morning listener who has joined us in studio and at events. Check out Miss USA Rima Fakih when she won Mojo In The Morning’s ‘Stripper 101′ contest in 2007.”

Rima must have been really good because she never removed her clothing and the panel of stripper judges still thought she was the best. She won adult toys, gift cards, jewelry, and even a stripper pole of her very own.

Kat Von D Sticks Up For Michelle McGee

Kat Von D says you shouldn't have beef with Michelle "Bombshell" McGee.

Well, not because of her tattoos at least. You can hate her for being an adulterer, fame-seeking sellout and overall waste of space, but lay off the tats.

"You can't judge a book by its cover," the L.A. Ink star said. "I think there's always been a negative stigma surrounding tattoos, especially on women."

"To me, it is all about how you carry yourself, and some people carry it differently, I guess. For me, I just want to be a positive example of tattooing."

As long as you don't screw an Oscar winner's husband, Kat, you're good.

She doesn't think it's fair to say that Michelle "Bombshell" McGee's look sparked her affair with Jesse James, ending his marriage to Sandra Bullock.

McGee bears quite the resemblance to James' porn star ex-wife Janine Lindemulder ... and to Kat Von D nude, come to think of it. See photo above.

"There have been many cases in the past that have been fully exploited where people have affairs and then they have absolutely no tattoos, so if we were to sit there and dissect that, that would be pointless and very time consuming," Kat said.

That settles that. People have affairs no matter what. Jesse James, tons of tattoos, a bunch of mistresses. Tiger Woods? No tattoos, 121 mistresses.

The Hills Sneak Preview: Brody Jenner Trash Talks Ryan Cabrera, Might Hit it with Audrina Patridge

Brody Jenner and Ryan Cabrera "have had some issues in the past."

Or at least since The Hills writers decided to rewrite history, anyway.

Frankie Delgado and Brody Jenner, in a completely unstaged preview from tomorrow's episode, can be seen gossiping about Ryan and whether Brody will try to hit it with Audrina Patridge when the crew all meets at an upcoming party.

While he doesn't go into much detail about said issues, Brody and Frankie do attempt to trash talk Cabrera, but their jokes are as off as his jumpshot.

"It's cool that they're together and stuff because they have a lot in common," Jenner says. "They can borrow each other's jeans ... hair gel." Clank.

A Brody Jenner love triangle is brewing. Does anyone care?

Audrina Patridge and Ryan Cabrera have been together for a few months now ... and we know he's hooked up with her in the past, but watching Brody pretend to care so much about their relationship just comes off as awkward here.

Come on, Hills writers. Can't you feed these guys some better lines? Please try, or just leave the trash talk to Kristin Cavallari, she's the only one with the versatility and track record to do it convincingly week in and week out.

Lynn Redgrave Passes Away

Lynn Redgrave, an Oscar-nominated actress most recently seen on an episode of Ugly Betty last year, passed away last night. She was 67.

Publicist Rick Miramontez, speaking on behalf of Redgrave's family, said the veteran thespian died peacefully Sunday night at her house in Connecticut. She was surrounded by children Ben, Pema and Annabel.

"Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer," they said in a statement Monday. "She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time."

Redgrave's passing comes a little more than year after her niece, Natasha Richardson, died from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident. Her older brother, Corin Redgrave, died last month.

Lynn received Oscar nominations for Georgy Girl and Gods and Monsters, as well as Tony nominations for Mrs. Warren's Profession, Shakespeare for My Father and The Constant Wife.

Wahler pleads guilty to drink driving, misses out on jail

The reality TV bad boy, 23, was also ordered to attend an alcohol-offender program.
Wahler was also sentenced to serve two days behind bars in court in Orange County, California on Monday (03May10), but was given credit for time already served.
He was arrested in March (10) and tests shows he was more than twice over the legal limit.

Police launch investigation into leaked Ortiz photo

The photo was posted on website TMZ.com shortly after the fighter was arrested last week (ends30Apr10) in a domestic battery case.
Cops insist no one was authorised to release the photo, taken of a video monitor, which shows Ortiz sitting in the Huntington Beach jail.
Ortiz, real name Jacob Christopher Ortiz, 35, was arrested on 26 April (10) after an alleged domestic disturbance between himself and partner Jenna Jameson, a former porn star.

Campbell breaks down as mum apologises on TV

Valerie Morris was in the audience for the taping of the show, which aired on Monday (03May10), and listened as her daughter tried to explain what was behind her famous temper.
And something hit home when the model explained that she felt hurt when people she trusted lied to her or stole from her - because, at that point, she felt childhood issues rising inside.
Asked for her opinion, Morris brought her daughter to tears when she opened up about her parenting problems when Naomi was a little girl.
Mum said, "She used the word abandonment and it's fair to say that yes, I do feel that I abandoned her. I was 19 when I had Naomi and I was a single mum... I wanted the best for my daughter and I left Naomi to work to give her a better life, private education... and so, looking back, you sort of realise that material possessions are not the only thing that a child needs.
"Naomi, I'm really, really sorry."
At that point, host Oprah Winfrey had to cut to a commercial because her guest was too upset to continue with the interview.
After the break, the model fought back tears as she said, "Of course I understand the sacrifice she had to make."
The model then burst into tears again, prompting Winfrey to call for a tissue.

Sheen and wife not 'contemplating' divorce

The actor and Brooke Mueller have been largely estranged since a Christmas Day (25Dec09) fight landed Sheen behind bars in Colorado.
The couple checked into separate rehab facilities earlier this year (10) for unreleased and unrelated reasons, and when Sheen headed home recently, Mueller moved out of the estate they shared before the winter problems.
But the pair's representatives insist there will be no divorce, despite stories to the contrary.
A joint statement from the reps reads, "They are not seeking a divorce nor has one been contemplated. There has been no financial agreements between the parties of any sort. Stories to the contrary are false."

Boreanaz joins the bad boys club after confessing to affair

Boreanaz, who played Angel in the cult show and it's TV spin-off, has opened up about his bad behaviour to the upcoming People magazine.
He reveals he has been unfaithful to his wife, Jaime Bergman, and the two are currently trying to save their marriage - after a former mistress threatened to go public with their affair.
He confesses, "Our marriage has been tainted with my infidelities. I just want to be open and honest. I was irresponsible.
"I was associated with a woman who I was involved with and had a relationship with. She asked for money. I felt as though I was being blackmailed or there was some sort of extortion."
Boreanaz joins Tiger Woods, Sandra Bullock's estranged husband Jesse James and Take That star Mark Owen on the list of famous bad boys who have been forced to come clean about their infidelities in recent months.
The actor hopes the mistakes he has made don't end his marriage: "We're working on repairing what has been damaged so badly."
Boreanaz and actress Bergman have an eight-year-old son, called Jaden Rayne, and a daughter, Bardot Vita Boreanaz, who was born last summer (Aug09).
This is his second marriage. His first union with Ingrid Quinn ended in divorce after just two years in 1999.
